The dance-theater event “WOMAN PROMITHEUS”, by Dora Stratou’s Ancient Greek Chorus study group, is inspired by ancient and contemporary Greek poets who have praised women from antiquity until today.It is presented in two parts: The first part “Woman Prometheus I” focuses mainly at the connection between the poetry of Sappho, Irina, Antithes, Corina, Archilochos, Aeschylus and Euripides and modern poetry showing Woman as a Promethean symbol, since it is a woman’s labor that brings a new life into the world and promises rebirth.
The second part “Prometheus Woman II” is composed of excerpts from the works of Aristophanes and other texts that show aspects of the traditional and modern life of women;
these texts may vary, based on the place that hosts each performance.
