2014… Gold Apple Scene. Stamoulaki Kelley Glass Music Theater
«Golden apple, sweet apple,
Fairytale apple, my dream apple
Apple with tears of joy,
Apple with oaths and kisses»
A golden apple … Three beautiful goddesses… The occasion was small but enough to write a masterpiece,
“The Iliad”
Great virtues, friendship, love, sacrifice but also quarrels, rivalries and great selfishness, painting pictures and creating myths, enticing children into a game of history and imagination. Although it is an epic work with battle scenes, it is rendered in such a way as to pass anti-war messages about peace and its goods without losing the glamor of the myth.
Lavrentis Mahairitsas “dresses” Homer with music; the text is carefully edited by Kelly Stamoulaki. Scenes created in an imaginative way and beautiful costumes taken from Homer’s era.
Live songs and musical instruments on stage.
«Because it is the will of the gods
Our home to be in the heart and the heart is our home!
So everything is home to us»
The drama version of Kelli Stamoulaki is very fresh: humor, imagination, immediacy, concentrated action without losing interest. Live music with keys, oud, Cretan lyre, saz, guitar and percussion promotes action and entices viewers into a game of history and fantasy
The Iliad does not need recommendations. It is the most masterful work of world culture. Friendship, bravery, courage, sacrifice, love of all kinds (fatherly, brotherly, erotic), quarrels, glory, high and humble instincts of people come to life in the eyes of the spectators, essentially making an unmatched hymn to man and peace, whose gender is crushing. Faithful to the Homeric epic, the author adds playful mood and surprises keeping interest alive.
