The History of Jazz Music – A Performance about Innovation, Creativity and Multiculturalism through Music, Dance and Painting
Through a great magical journey through time, grandma JAZZ tells us her story: “Once upon a time in Africa there was a young child. “SONG” was its name and had some beautiful fairies “NOTES” as its friends.
“JAZZ FOR KIDS: the story of a rhythm” is a unique performance for Greek children. Onstage: a piano, a contrabass, a saxophone and percussion instruments; four musicians; conductor: Alexandros Christidis; four ballet dancers; choreographer: Anuska Economou and four actresses; director: Panagiotis Spiliopoulos.
The show aims to raise awareness and entertain our young friends. The fairy tale comes to life on stage with Jazz musicians, dancers, video art; set and costumes inspired by Kandinsky and Bauhaus works. All these bring children into an atmosphere of creative expression
Melody and rhythm are the way for children to familiarize with multiculturalism and the universal language of emotions.
The aim of the play is to make children understand that music and painting are universal languages and that culture has no birthplace and no color. It’s a childish look at life, an authentic and creative sense of freedom without boundaries.
