Hecuba (2017)

Hecuba, Performance, directed by Febo del Sozzo

“HECUBA: Ports and Suburbs Along the Mediterranean Sea”

Within the framework of Pop Up 2017, the Theatre Group Laminarie present their theatrical performance titled “HECUBA: Ports and Suburbs Along the Mediterranean Sea” at NiMAC [Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, Associated with the Pierides Foundation].

From December 13th to December 23rd, Laminarie will be a guest of the NiMac – Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, in the occasion of the Nicosia Pop Up Festival; the event that aim to promotes creative activities thanks to the culture and presentation of various artistic talents.

The theatrical research takes the traces of the previous stops of this project, started in 2015 in Bologna, that have passed through Liserna, Palermo, Granollers (Barcelona), Naples, Marseille and, in this 2017, Tirana and Malaga.

In HECUBA ports and suburbs of the Mediterranean Sea the motor of action is the territorial activation, a factor that marks the artistic activity that the theatre company carries on constantly. HECUBA is the voice of the contemporary suffering looking from the perspective of the oppressed. The Greek myth is universal and becomes a medium of the dialogue between the different cultures that inhabit the Mediterranean.

The project, every time, follow the contest that Laminarie find in every place that he is host, and following the urban pattern with get on in. Once again, the protagonists are the citizens of all ages, who are involved in through the creation thanks to take part of the workshop developed in loco by the artistic director and director Febo Del Zozzo, which will lead to the final show and presentation of the debut of this tithe action.

In this way, each step, for its uniqueness, enriches the artistic realization of HECUBA that gives voice, with its transversality, not only to the torment and pain of the Trojan Queen, but to the entire community of vanquished in which the language of the gesture above the words and becomes a mouthpiece of the story told. The work resume the continuous vocation of Laminarie to direct practices of approach to matter, objects, words and bodies, an attitude in continuous tension towards to the territory and its involvement with the use of artistic language that aims to create and form active relationships and expanding new audiences.
