Game over (2015)

Altera Pars Theater presents Efi Meravoglou’s new play “Game Over” starting January 22 for 16 performances.

The story begins in France in 2055, a time marked by changes in the environment and scientific achievements of paranoid people. A team of scientists is launching experiments aimed at controlling the human brain and completing a fascist and perverse regime.

Game Over’s Heroes are sometimes the main players of a well-established game and sometimes the pawns. The plan begins in 2040 when Governor Stalker asks a team of scientists to have an experiment through which he will be able to trap people, subdue them and make them work 22 hours a day, with 120 minutes of sleep.

It is a futuristic, dystopian thriller with political dimensions. Are people now in charge of their own thoughts and reactions? Are their brains, that is, their thoughts and will, controlled by scientists serving a totalitarian regime? Who is ultimately in charge of the whole world and what is the material that the heroes are made of?

Kostas Koulis for Noizy.gr

“… Continuous motion, choreography, harmony, two-level action and cinematic ‘shots’, all achieved through amazing lighting. A script with a rising plot, “multi-syllabism”, fast lines and use of flashbacks …

The show is dark, the topic is tough … The actors are bleeding on stage. They are beaten, shouted at, broken, shaken and tortured in their role. There are no lonely couples in this story; there are no norms for ranting and exhortation. The actors have pushed themselves to their limits in all aspects! Their effort is amazing… “

From Sinwebradio and Dina

“… I have to congratulate the actors and creators because they dare to bring something different to theatrical Athens, and even if the topic strikes you as odd, it’s definitely worth seeing as something beyond the ordinary …”
