“Three Cosmonauts” is an interactive theatrical play for children, based on Umberto Eco’s homonymous text “Three Cosmonauts”. Umberto Eco, a renowned author, novelist and educator, known mostly for his works: The name of the Rose, Fouko’s pendulum, Baudolino. This story, although written in the 1960s, in a world divided from wars, is still relevant even today bringing forward loud important messages.
In the show, Three Cosmonauts from different parts of the Earth (Russia, China, America), with many differences and peculiarities, speaking other languages, raised with different music and food, prepare for the first long journey to Mars. The launch is presented by the female astronaut Mae Jemison, the first African woman that traveled in space.
Will they manage to get to their destination? They land somewhere, but what is this planet? And this weird creature they find, what is it?
The Three Cosmonauts are so different and so similar to this weird creature they meet, Yuko. At first they are afraid of him and attack him, but Yuko is not violent and starts dancing. But then it is scared, it moves and cries. Slowly they approach him and begin to understand him. It is so sweet and lovable. Will they take him to Earth?
“Three Cosmonauts” is a tender theatrical show full of optimism and hope. “Listen to those who love you but if you really want something, fight with all your heart so as to achieve it.”
With humor and joy, information is given about our planetary system, space, and our Earth. “Can you really become what you dream?” “Dreams are about to come true”, “don’t forget to love. Love as much as you can”. This performance celebrates friendship and diversity.
“Different is what is beautiful in the end.”
